Product Managers (PMs) on the team interact directly with pods of engineers to work on our core staffing marketplace products or new adjacent products. Each PM works with an engineering manager or tech lead and a group of incredibly talented engineers to solve problems in high-leverage ways. We qualify the boundaries of the role as “flexible”, because even though our team is currently distributed across the core flow of our healthcare-professional-facing mobile app (Onboarding, Booking Shifts, Pricing, Payments, Billing), what’s most important is that high-priority customer problems never fall through the cracks. Clipboard Health PMs here are encouraged to not feel limited to their area of focus and to work on alternative solutions to important problems even when a) a teammate may already be working on the same problem and b) the problems aren’t in their usual area of focus.
Product Group and Structure
Our product/engineering/strategy teams are structured into various groups oriented around a set of customer problems (“missions”). Those missions are not fixed or even exclusive; there might be times when multiple Groups are attacking the same problem. That’s both acceptable and (on the margin) expected.
A group is a cross-functional unit led by a Group Product Manager alongside one or more Engineering Managers and strategy team members.
- As an HCF, I want the quality of my part-time/agency HCPs to be at least as good as my full-time HCPs
- As an HCF, I want shift management to be frictionless
- As a new HCF, I need staff in the building today
- As an HCF, I want to be able to solve my problems without Support involvement
- As an HCF, I can’t get all the HCPs I need through CBH because I ran out of credit
- As CBH, we might lose a lot of money due to bad debt
- Quickly acquire and activate high-quality HCPs
- Make the booking experience fast and easy
- Make payments fast, reliable, and seamless
- As CBH, we might lose a lot of money due to fraud
- As an HCF, I think CBH/staffing is unreliable
- As an HCP, there are shifts I would have worked if the pay was higher
- As an HCF, I am having a bad experience filling shifts
- As an HCP, I don’t have enough good shifts
- The mission of the Platform Engineering Group at Clipboard Health is to ensure that our engineering system (services, infrastructure, applications) can meet the demands of scale as our business grows. Platform teams make investments to complement and accelerate the work of our more purely product-focused teams.
- Note the Platform teams will also help reduce the risk of collision since we’re not dedicating product real estate to particular teams.
These missions are not a collectively exhaustive list of what could be worked on, but simply what we’ve deemed to be the most important missions at this moment in time.
Our Product
Clipboard Health’s app-based marketplace was designed to solve the big problems that keep healthcare providers and facilities from doing their best work and fulfilling their mission. Nurses see more opportunities, and facilities fill more shifts.
Product Thought Pieces
Our CBH Working Backwards Document is to be used for substantive Feature Specs (such as Matching Algorithm) and other Major Initiatives. A Working Backwards doc tests the customer value of your ideas and helps you crystallize what you want to do and why in customer-centric terms that anyone can understand.
Product Job Opportunities
The Associate Product Manager – New Grad position is designed to grow undergraduates into product leaders. APMs at Clipboard Health move quickly, with high ownership and good judgment from day 1. Previous APMs have scaled operational processes, written new pricing algorithms from scratch, and built new products all on their own.
We're looking for a Product Manager that's excited to be a generalist in our rapidly growing Marketplace. You will not be building things with the hope that people need it, but rather filling the desperate needs of our users while innovating in ways they didn't even know they needed. You'll have to be adaptable, learn quickly, and have a deep interest in understanding our business, our users, and our product.
You would be joining our PM team working with a fast-growing and fast-moving engineering organization. Our product today manages millions of dollars of invoices and pays thousands of participants on both sides of the market. It’s important work, so the buck stops with you, no matter what anyone else did or did not do. You're self-reliant, and can get things done in the chaos that is an early-stage startup scaling quickly.
